Where to look

Externally

You can look at the external part of your monitor and more specifically the back of your monitor. It should tell you the monitor model number, monitor brand, and year it was made. You will find the monitor brand on the front of the monitor.

After you get the details on the back of the monitor, you can search on the monitor manufacturer website to find all the details and monitor specifications.

If you are on a Windows 10 computer

When you boot up your computer, you will click the start button and go to the control panel or gear icon. Click on the system information option and scroll down to the advanced display settings page.

This advanced display settings option will provide you all the details and information on your monitor specifications. Some information includes:

  • Type into your windows 10 search bar display settings
  • Click on the display settings page
  • Scroll down and click on the advanced display settings

  • Right click on your desktop window
  • Select display settings
  • Scroll down and click advanced display settings
  • Under the display information you will get the details about your monitor

  • Right click on your empty space of your desktop window
  • Scroll down and click advanced display settings
  • Switch to the monitor tab and click on display adapter properties

  • You can press the windows icon and type in settings and press enter
  • Under the system settings section you go the display settings and select display settings
  • Click on the scale and layout section and click on the dropdown menu of list of current dimensions for display resolution

If you are on a Mac

  • When you boot up your computer, you will click on the apple button and go to about this Mac.
  • The about this mac window will pop up and you will have to click the more info button.
  • The overview of your monitor will appear. Some of the monitor specs include processor, memory, graphics card, serial number, and software.
